Try-Out Information
Sereno is a Nike Premier sponsored Club that is currently ranked the #1 youth soccer club in Arizona, and the #1 ranked club in the Nation.  Sereno Soccer Club welcomes all players to participate in our annual clinic/tryout sessions. Tryouts for the 2008-09 season will be held at the Scottsdale Sports Complex and Reach 11 beginning in May.

Each year Golden Eagle players are selected through a clinic (developmental) or try-out (competitive) process conducted by our professional staff.  Players are then placed in the best environment for their individual development.  Our youngest Golden Eagle team is U-7, which for the 2008-09 season are those born between August 1, 2001 and July 31, 2002.   Typically, there are multiple competitive teams formed per age group.   Players are encouraged to attend as many of the tryouts as possible in order to receive multiple evaluations during the tryout period.

2008-2009 Try-Out Materials
All players must complete the try-out profile form before participating in a tryout.  A $10 administrative fee will be required along with the completed profile form at the first tryout a player attends.  Cash is welcome and checks are accepted, payable to Sereno Soccer Club.   Each player will receive an individually numbered tryout shirt at the first tryout which must be worn to each tryout a player attends.  All players must wear shin guards and bring a ball and water to each tryout.  Please reference the Age group information chart below to determine the correct age group your player will tryout for.

Tryouts
The Club will be holding tryouts in May and June for younger age groups and mid May to the beginning of July for the older age groups.  Please refer to this website for any last minute changes to tryout schedules.

Team Selection
Depending on the number of players who tryout and are selected, the Club may have two or three teams (White, Blue, Red) for each age group.  During tryouts, each age group is evaluated by several of the Club’s professional staff who make determinations on the placement of players on specific teams.  Team assignments are based on the best environment for individual development.   Sereno’s coaching staff will select the teams for the 2008-09 season.

Our Season
Sereno’s competitive teams begin practice in early to mid August to prepare for tournament play in late August or early September.  U14 – U18 teams participating in the FWRL will begin training on July 21st.  Training sessions for U11 and older teams will continue through May, or potentially June or July depending on their qualifications to Regional and National Championships.  U10 and younger teams typically finish their seasons March or April.

Training
Competitive teams, U10 and older typically train three days per week including at least one session per week of speed, strength and fitness.  In addition older teams, currently U11 and older, receive mental skills and nutrition instruction on a periodic basis.  Currently High school aged players receive additional sessions, which among other things, include life skills training, SAT/ACT preparation, and college recruitment preparation.

Soccer America Names Sereno as one the Country's Best Youth Soccer Clubs!
February 15, 2006 - Soccer America Magazine recently announced that Sereno is one of only three clubs in the U.S. with both its girls' and boys' programs in the top 20.  Sereno's girls' program currently ranks 5th in the country and the boys' program currently ranks 11th.  Sereno's combined ranking according Soccer America is 2nd in the U.S.  For more information, please see Soccer America Girls' Rankings and Soccer America Boys' Rankings
