Phoenix, AZ - This past weekend (11/19-11/20) the Sereno 94 Boys White team won the U-18 Far West Region League Fall Championship.  The boys went undefeated in their divisional regular season matches qualifying for the Championship Round.  For the Championship Round the boys defeated TSA 94 Red (AZ), West Coast FC (CA) - previously undefeated winner of the other division and the 2011 Region IV Champion Rush Nike Argonauts (NM).  The title secures their spot at the USYS Region IV Championships to be held in Phoenix June 18-24th, 2012. Congratulations to the boys and Coach David Robertson.

Phoenix, AZ - The Sereno girls ECNL teams finished the ECNL National Event #1 with an impressive overall record of 6 wins, 2 losses and 4 ties against the top girls teams in the country.  The 4 teams, coached by Paul Taylor, Darwish Khalil, Paul Lester, John DeMartini and Katie Cole, all played well: the 97 GW finished 3-0-0, 96 GW were 0-1-2, 95 GW 1-1-1 and the 94 GW finished 2-0-1.  The 97 GW weekend featured a victory over the #2 Nationally Ranked West Coast FC.  Finally, the 98 GW team was not part of the National Event but did set an example for the weekend with a 10-0 ECNL league victory over SC Del Sol on Thu night.

Houston, TX - Boys Director of Coaching David Robertson and the Sereno 94 Boys White team have earned the respect of a few MLS Academy teams.  Recently, the team has arranged friendlies with the Houston Dynamo and Real Salt Lake Academy teams.  Over the weekend of 10/1-10/2 the boys beat the Dynamo U-18’s 3-1 and the U-16’s by the same score.  These matches, while friendly, demonstrate the quality of Sereno’s players and programs among the best boys teams in the country.  Sereno thanks the coaching staffs and players of both the Houston Dynamos and RSL for their generosity in arranging these matches to help our boys train at the highest level!  The team's trip blog notes add more detail here.

Phoenix, AZ - John Rea of the 98 Boys White Team returns from an amazing training experience with Chelsea FC’s youth teams.  John trained twice with the 97’s and once with the 98’s.  Training with the 97’s took place at Chelsea’s state of the art training facility in Cobham as part of their elite training centre programme.  John was also fortunate enough to take in a Liverpool - Tottenham game at White Hart Lane.  We welcome John back to Sereno and look forward to learning more about his wonderful training experience with Chelsea FC.

Boise, ID - The Sereno SC 92BW team beat the defending National Champion Eastside (OR) 2-0 to advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championships.  Congratulations to the team and coach Brian O'Donnell.  2 Sereno teams represented Arizona by advancing to the 2011 regional final matches today: Sereno 92BW and Sereno 98GW.  The 92BW scored a goal in the first half and then defended fiercely finally notching their 2nd goal late.  The 98GW pushed their Arsenal (CA-S) opponents to extra time before getting narrowly edged 1-2.  The USYS National Championships will be hosted in Phoenix this year from July 27-31. Sereno Soccer Club is excited to announce we have accepted an invitation to be a founding member of the Western College Development Academy-Boys (WCDA).  Sereno will be one of 24 elite clubs to participate in the inaugural season in 2010-2011. Participation in the WCDA will enhance our already successful boys program which has accomplished the following in 2010:

• Earned a repeat invitation to the USYS National League
• Earned 4 invitations (91, 92, 94, 95) to the Region IV Championships through Arizona State Cup and Far West Region League Championships
  
• Placed 6 teams in the top 3 in the Arizona State Cup: 91-1st, 92-3rd, 93-3rd, 94-1st, 95-2nd, 97-2nd
  
• Placed the following players into college soccer programs: 2010 College Commitments
• Produced the 2010 Gatorade Arizona Boys Soccer Player of the Year: George Malki (92)

Why the Western College Development Academy?

Mission: To inspire the top soccer athletes to strive for a college education and college soccer opportunities

Objectives: 

• Elevate the top clubs in the region to provide top competition for the players and a marketing advantage to the participating clubs
• Elevate the opportunities to showcase the top players and teams from the Western region
• Provide better viewing opportunities for college coaches
• Provide high level competition to the aspiring, college bound athlete
• Provide flexible and regional travel opportunities to the top clubs in the western United State
• Provide team and player profiles to college coaches
• Educate the families about the soccer opportunities in
• Create game rules based on college rules (e.g., re-entry)

Other Important Facts:

• Unlike other Development Academies, the WCDA allows participating teams to carry on competing in the State Cup/Regional Championships/National Championships/State League/Far West Regional League and any other events.
• Clubs were selected based upon their historical success developing players and teams.
• Season consists of 18-20 league games, 3 Showcases in Arizona, Las Vegas and Southern California and a league Championship in Washington State hosted by Crossfire Premier.
• Other participating clubs include: Slammers, Albion, West Coast FC, Real Colorado, Neusport, De Anza, La Roca, Crossfire Premier, Washington Premier and more.
• 3 West-State-US Divisions: Mountain, Pacific and Evergreen.
